Try the method below, as this should refresh the HID driver and reinstate it, otherwise your touchpad is faulty and you need to replace the either the upper case with the touchpad as its one unit and you can't just buy a touchpad or its FFC cable is faulty.

To refresh touchpad drive r do this:

    • -Press Windows key + X
    • -Go to Device Manager
    • -Expand the Human Interface Device or Mice and other pointing device
    • -Look for HID Touchpad driver that was installed
    • -Right click and Update
    • -Look for "Browse my computer for driver
    • -Let me pick drivers available drivers
    • -Choose an old driver and use it.

Restart your computer and check the touchpad as the touchpad should work. If not, you cant replace a faulty touchpad in the aspire A515-54 laptop as its part of the upper case and you will need to buy a new upper case, But check the FFC touchpad cable if its come lose or its faulty as that could fix also the touchpad not working. Good luck and hope this helps you out to solve this problem.
