ANV15-51H9 laptop randomly freezes with weird red pixelated screen & buzzing audio after RAM upgrade

I was just chilling on my laptop doing random things on chrome, and all the sudden this screen shows up and my Spotify audio is glitched with my laptop only playing a buzzing noise. My buttons and mouse doesn’t work. The only way I was able to escape it was by holding the power button.

This is the first time something like THIS has happened. Recently my laptop has been randomly black screening (with audio buzzing during it) and I’ve had to hold power button to get it out of that, too. But this is all new to me. Is my laptop done for? This problem is getting worse and worse.

My laptop is ANV15-51H9 I’m not sure what other specs to list since I’m fairly inexperienced with computers in general but let me know if I should state any others.

Also, I think these problems started appearing when I added my 32 (2x16) GB of ram. It was a crucial one from Amazon and I’m not completely sure if it’s the real reason, but what I do know is the RAM does support my laptop (because it shows I have 32 GB in my specs and task manager) and overall I think had slightly better performance allowing me to keep more apps open. I made sure I got the correct RAM.

I suggest that your first do a Hard Reset of the ANV15-51 laptop if your laptop is out of the Acer 12 months warranty. If the laptop is still under the Acer warranty, send book a service call on your laptop to Acer Tech Support in your country, so that Acer can analyse and fix this problem.

From my experience, these symptoms usually are caused by your laptops EC and Chipset chips that are freezing or the ram is faulty and this will cause those screen issues and black screen, as this reset will rest these chips and you can also diagnose the ram by only booting the laptop with 1x ram module, if you have two which this laptop came oem from Acer with.

To do a Hard Reset do this:

Remove eleven (11) screws from the base cover to the upper case of your Nitro ANV15-51 laptop, starting from the upper side, pry to release the upper side latches, continue releasing the remaining latches. Then remove the lower case.

Press the power key for 15 seconds to release all power to the laptop and then disconnect the main battery cable from the mainboard, then take the main battery out. Then disconnect the RTC/BIOS battery and then short the bios batteries + & - pins at the mainboard plug (as shown at A below) to reset CMOS and then take all the ran out.

Leave the laptop like that for at least 30min so that EC and Chipset chips reset completely and then reconnect everything, if you have 2x ram modules, only connect 1x ram module and alternate the two ram modules and see if its not the ram that is faulty, as the laptop should turn on and boot properly with an image on the screen and the black screens and screen abnormalities should not happen. this happened to my older Nitro laptops and after doing this hard Reset it never ever happened again.
