✅ Current Symptoms
The battery is stuck at 59–60% and does not charge any further.

The system shows "plugged in, charging", but the battery percentage remains the same.

When the AC adapter is disconnected, the laptop immediately shuts down.

HWMonitor shows 0W power going into the battery (no current input).

While playing games, the battery discharges very slowly, but it does not seem to charge at all.

This issue started after updating the Intel graphics driver.

🔧 Troubleshooting Already Attempted
BIOS settings checked → No battery or charging-related options found.

Battery charge limit in Acer Care Center is disabled (set to 100%).

Battery driver uninstalled and reinstalled → No change.

Reset Windows power configuration using powercfg → No effect.

EC reset attempts (battery reset pin, long press on power button) → No effect.

Windows reinstalled (formatted SSD) → No improvement.

The laptop was stored for 5 days powered off, and battery level from 59% to 59%

Power adapter is genuine Acer 220V

What I suggest that you do first is do a proper Hard Reset of the laptop, this entails doing the following:

Hard Reset - Remove the ten (10) screws securing the lower case to the upper case of your PH16-71 laptop, starting from the upper side, pry to release the upper side latches, continue releasing the remaining latches. Then remove the lower case.

Press the power key for 15 seconds to release all power to the laptop and then disconnect the main battery from the mainboard, then take the main battery out. Then disconnect the RTC/BIOS battery and then short the bios batteries + & - pins at the mainboard plug (as shown at plug A below) to reset CMOS and then take all the ram out.

Leave the laptop like that for at least 30min so that EC, Chipset and bios chips reset completely and then reconnect everything, if you have 2x ram modules, only connect 1x ram module and alternate the two ram modules and see if its not the ram that is faulty, afterwards the laptop should turn on and boot properly and the battery should charge.

If all the above does not work, the second thing that could be faulty is the battery in your laptop that is locked and has its safety solder fuse is tripped for some strange reason and the battery will not charge and it needs its fuse to be resoldered and to be unlocked with a battery analyser. which can only be done by a technician that has all the proper tools and can do the battery unlock and resolder the fuse and the technician can also look at the laptops internal charging rail if it has other problems that is restricting the battery from being charged. Good luck and hope this helps you out and gives you a guide of what to do to solve this problem.

If you want to buy a new battery (which should be the last resort) if you don't want to take your laptop to a technician, then these are the batteries for the PH16-71 laptops, get the genuine battery only and not the cheper nasty copies as they don't last and will also give you charging problems.

Hi, bring the laptop and adapter to Acer Services in your country to check the power rail.
