I have tried everything from resetting the bios to its default and even uninstalling the 12C or something driver. I have tried using the Fn+f7 function but nothing works. Right now only the external mouse works and the trackpad is basically useless. Before this happened the trackpad was working just fine and well I didn't make any apparent changes to the laptop either. Its just that the laptop had been unused and uncharged for almost a month because of a broken charger. But after charging it, everything was normal for a few days and suddenly the trackpad isn't working. I have also downloaded the drivers and even reset my entire computer. Nothing is working. Do i need to open it up or soothing?

Hi, what is your TravelMate model like TMP214-XX and what Windows version do you have? Uninstall the 12C HID device in Device Manager-Human Interface Devices and just reboot, Windows11 will reinstall the Precision device (12C HID) but I am not sure if Windows10 will still update drivers as Microsoft has stopped W10 support. Alternatively restore the system 1 month back (in System Protection, picture) when your trackpad was still working, type Create a restore point in Search and click on System Restore followed by a date:

Have u tried looking in the main tab of ur bios like in the main tab press CTRL + S twice which shows 2 more options one of them is touchpad maybe that can fix ur problem tho dont interfere with it untill ur sure that its not on 12C.

It is possible there is a hardware issue with the trackpad, though unlikely. Failing is also not likely to have anything to do with the time spent unused, especially since it didn't fail for some time after that. We really need to know more about your system before we can make many more suggestions, there have been a lot of Travelmate models over the years, and you don't tell us which one you have. Your full model number is usually on the same sticker as your serial number, it should look something like TMxxx-xxx-xxxx.
