Subject: Request for Assistance with Acer Aspire 3 – Screen and Booting Issue

Dear Acer friends,

I am reaching out to request assistance with my laptop, an Acer Aspire 3 with SNID: 24308771534.

The first issue I noticed with the unit was that lines started appearing from the bottom up to the middle of the screen, while the upper half of the screen remained clear. Despite this, I continued to use the laptop normally.

However, the situation has now worsened. When I press the power button, the laptop does not turn on. But if I press any key on the keyboard, it begins to boot. It briefly displays the Acer logo on the screen, then shuts down immediately.

Could you please assist me in resolving this issue? I would appreciate any help or guidance you can provide.

Thank you very much.

Your laptop model is the 2022 released Aspire A315-59 and this laptop has the integrated cpu graphics of the Intel Iris(R) Xe Graphics, what I recommend that you do is to completely uninstall the driver of the Intel Iris(R) Xe Graphics in Device Manager > Display drivers and then go to the A315-59 Acer support page and install the initial oem Acer Intel graphics driver version 31.0.101.4032 with a clean install >so that all Intel drivers are deleted off the system and this Acer driver that worked is installed, as windows update will update this driver anyway to the most compatible and latest driver for your laptop anyway.

If the driver change does not work, then I suggest that you do a Hard Reset by undoing the back of the laptop and taking the main battery out, then press the power key for 10 seconds to release any power from the laptop, then disconnect the RTC/BIOS battery and short this battery main board plug +&- pins to reset CMOS, then take all the ram out and leave the laptop like that for 30minutes, as all this will properly reset the laptops EC, Chipset and bios chips, as that could also be the reason for your screen issues.

RTC/BIOS battery, shot the +&- pins at the red circled board plug to rest CMOS.

If all the above doesn't work, then you have a hardware issue like a faulty eDP cable that needs changing, but before even disconnection the eDP cable, be warned that you need to disconnect the main battery, as if you don't you can cause serious permanent graphics damage to the laptop. if the eDP cable is not the issue then its the screen of the A315-59 laptop that needs changing. Good luck and hope this gives you a guide of the things that are wrong with your laptop.

These are all the 15.6" screens fitted to the Aspire A315-59 model laptop for your guide if your screen needs replacing.

Here’s how you can ask the Acer community in English regarding your issue with the laptop not booting:

    1. Clarification on Driver Installation

    • "How can I uninstall and reinstall the Intel Iris Xe graphics driver if the laptop doesn't boot? I can't access Windows since the boot process doesn't even complete before it shuts down."

    2. Alternative Steps for Non-Booting Laptop

    • "What alternative steps can I try if I can't install the driver because the system won't boot? Is there another way to reset or fix the issue without accessing the OS?"

    3. Hardware Reset

    • "Could CMOS or BIOS settings be causing the laptop to not boot properly? What steps should I take to reset the BIOS without needing the operating system?"
