Would like to change the 1tb HHD to a SSD in the Aspire E5-575

Purchased in 2017: Have a Aspire E5-575 that we have done some work on by replacing the power port, adding another 8gb of memory (total 16gb), and needed a new AC to DC charger.

The HDD seems to be having problems with corrupted files quite often, so I though that I would change the drive and do a fresh W10 install and go from there. Will I need some sort of adapter to convert from the HDD to SDD?

Hi, no problem replacing the mechanical HDD with a 2.5" Sata-3 SSD like the Samsung 970 EVo-V-NAND 2TB, you can clone the boot drive, but the easiest way is using Image creator in W7 Backup (Control Panel)

Note that the Acer Aspire E5-575, released around 2016, features an Intel Core i5-6200U that is not Windows11 compatible and W10 will become obsolete after a few months so consider migrating to a Windows11 laptop.

    Hey Thanks!

OK, well just trying to get some more mileage out of the Acer Laptop.

We will probably get another W11 laptop for my wife, but I have had some good luck with moving an older laptops to Linux Mint. So I think that I will try to get a SSD to replace the HDD in the Acer Laptop and perhap move it over to LinuxMint.

Thanks again for taking the time to provide some guidance!
