Built-In Camera Problem on Aspire AV15-51, camera stopped working.

I have Acer Aspire AV15-51 and suddenly the camera stopped working. I have tried searching for solutions online and I found ways but none of them work.

At first, I noticed that the camera driver (HD User Facing) becomes hidden from my device manager. So I reached out to Acer support and I was told to uninstall the driver. I uninstalled the driver and restarted my computer as instructed but now it's totally gone. The Acer support told me to reset camera app on my computer's settings. I did but still the same. She then told me to uninstall the camera app. I hesitated but she said it will be installed back after reboot so I did. I reboot and now both camera app and the driver is missing. I looked into Acer's website and login, checked Drivers & Downloads, but there's nothing related to camera… no driver and no app.

What should I do now? The Acer support is no longer responding.

Hi, simply restore the system to a date when the webcam was still working, type Create a restore point in Search and click on System Restore with a date, unless you recently upgraded or reinstalled Windows that should work.

Here's what you should do. Boot in safe mode. You can do this by pressing down the shift key and clicking the restart option in the start menu.

When you are in safe mode, open device manager. You will be able to view imaging devices (VOILA!!!). Expand and right click on your camera. Select Properties. Go to the Driver Tab and click on Driver Details.

Now, make a folder in your Documents and copy paste ALL of the Driver files from their original locations in this folder. Make sure you copy the locations they are supposed to be in as well.

Now when you start up in normal mode, go to these locations and CHECK if the driver files exist. My guess is that at least one of them will be missing. Now, copy paste them from the backup you created in Documents in safe mode.

You should now be able to see the imaging devices even in normal mode.
