After playing a game with the sound muted, I could not get the audio back on my Acer Aspire 5 laptop. I know about controlling audio in computer games, using Options and the F9 mute button on the laptop keyboard. None of those things worked when I tried to get the audio back on.

I am a 70 year-old woman with enough computer literacy to use a computer for emails, using Google, playing games from Big Fish, using social media, etc., I have even watched movies. In trying to find a solution, I read that my drivers may be the problem. I have absolutely no idea what drivers are. I ended up contacting a business called Get My Drivers for help. A guy with the company, working from the Phillipines, took remote control of my laptop and restored the audio. I was charged for this service, which I expected. But then I found out that I had been enrolled in a monthly subscription service, which charged a monthly fee. I did not know about nor authorize this. I live just on Social Security and cannot afford subscriptions. Also, on a daily basis, often more than once, anything I was doing on the computer was abruptly stopped and replaced by this thing doing a "scan". There were constant probems between it and my MalwareBytes program. They wanted me to uninstall it.

I heard that this company is on the scammy side, and I really didn't need them in the first place, and that I certainly didn't need their $20 a month subscription service, that paying a one-time fee to have them help me restore the audio to my computer should have been sufficient.Yesterday, I finally got through to their customer service and after refusing many offers to "do a work around" to the problems I was having, they cancelled my subscription. This morning I turned my computer on, and I once again have no audio.

Is there anything I can do?
