laptop about a week old and the fan is going on and off fairly loudly and fairly continuously, from the moment the screen is opened. underside covering the fans is only warm to the touch, not at all hot. acersense has no fan options nor any applicable power settings. anything to be done or is this just the way it is?

this is the 3rd version of this model i have owned, each with its own issues, and this is the first one with an apparent fan problem. ugh.

Hi, there are some fan control utilities available, like AcerS3FanControl on GitHub, which might work: GitHub - 00Green27/AcerS3FanControl: Control fan speed for Acer notebooks.

A loud, constantly cycling laptop fan on a new Acer AV16-51P could indicate overheating, a faulty fan, or simply the laptop's cooling system responding to normal temperature fluctuations. Here's a breakdown of potential causes and solutions:
    Possible Causes:
Overheating: Demanding tasks like gaming or video editing can cause the CPU/GPU to overheat, triggering the fan to run at higher speeds to prevent damage.
Dust Accumulation: Dust can block vents, hindering airflow and forcing the fan to work harder.
Fan Malfunction: In rare cases, the fan itself may be faulty.
Software Issues: Certain software or drivers might be causing the fan to run excessively.
Normal Temperature Fluctuations: Modern laptops are designed to adjust fan speed based on internal temperatures. A loud, cycling fan might simply be a normal response to temperature changes.
    Troubleshooting Steps:

    1. Clean the Vents:
Use compressed air to gently blow out dust from the vents and fan, being careful not to damage the fan blades.
    2. Check for Overheating:
Use a hardware monitor to check the CPU/GPU temperature while running the laptop. If the temperature is consistently high even during minimal use, it may indicate a cooling problem.
    3. Review Fan Control Software:
Some laptops allow for manual control of fan speeds. Experiment with these settings to see if you can find a balance between cooling and noise.
    4. Update Drivers:
Outdated drivers, especially for the GPU, can cause performance issues and affect fan behavior. Ensure all drivers are up to date.
    5. Check for Background Processes:
Close any unnecessary programs running in the background, as they can put a strain on the CPU and increase heat.
    6. Consider a Cooling Pad:
If the laptop tends to run hot, a cooling pad can help dissipate heat and reduce fan noise.

Axxo: out of that list, the only one that seems to be possible is the overheating one. please see the attached photo. can you tell anything from the readings?

thanks, i'll check them out. meanwhile, do you have any thoughts about the temp readings? here's yet another photo and i wonder if i should be worried about how different the max temps are for the cores, ranging from 57 to 102c. i have one day left in which to return the laptop if there's a problem.
