It seems I have to keep coming back for more. Does anyone know what the screws on the bottom of the lid are as in Acer part #s? My screws tend to become loose and I am now missing one screw due this, I might as well buy new screws that are prob tighter then these that are original.

I seem to be having a battery issue, were sometimes the plug in the warning notifaction doesnt come on and the Acer turns off between 10% to 19% juice left.

Other times the battery has gone to 2% to 5% when it shuts off.

It seems with me installing the new keyboard and reinstalling motherboard and other parts, the battery has become displaced in % of juice left before it closes down.

Is there a way to reset the battery?

I have 2 battery settings 1 I believe is Microsoft 11 pro and the other is Acer, I switched tp the 11 pro settings and the plug in notifications sometimes come on but not alwats and i still experience the battery % issues, before it shuts off

The bottom lid screws for your SP513-54N are the screws shown below, your laptop has 10 of these screws securing the bottom lid:

With the battery, if you have disconnected the oem battery and reconnected it that is a way of resetting the battery, but be aware that your SP513-54N laptop being a 2020 design and going on 5 year old, the battery in this laptop only last between 3-4 years before they experience problems with charging and they need to be replaced, so replace the battery with the oem Acer batteries shown below and see if the new battery charges properly, as your laptop should.

If replacing the battery doesn’t solve the charging problems, then your laptop could have a shorted internal charging regulator chip or its charging rail is faulty and needs to be analysed by a technician and fixed. Good luck and hope this helps you out to fix the problems with your laptop.

And you don't really have to have a crush washer on the screw, though it does tend to help it stay in place. Any M2.6 screw will fit…

Those are not the correct screws, as the screws I have are phillips. The battery was replaced with a OEM Acer a year ago.

Its was fine before I switched out cases

If the fingerprint scanner on your Acer Spin 513-54N-74V2 is no longer working, try a few troubleshooting steps. First, ensure the device isn't hidden in Device Manager by showing hidden devices. If it's still not recognized, it might be a hardware issue, such as the touchpad or fingerprint sensor cable not being properly seated. You can also try re-registering your fingerprint in Windows Hello. If that doesn't work, a power reset or even a BIOS reset might help clear any temporary software glitches.
    Troubleshooting Steps:

    1. Check Device Manager:
      Open Device Manager.
Ensure "Show hidden devices" is enabled.
Look for the fingerprint scanner. If it's there but ghosted, it indicates a hardware issue.
    2. Re-register Windows Hello:
      Clear NGC Folder:
Navigate to C:\Windows\ServiceProfiles\LocalService\AppData\Local\Microsoft\NGC in File Explorer.
Right-click the NGC folder, select "Properties", then the "Security" tab.
Click "Advanced" and change the owner to "Administrators" or your local user.
Delete all files in the NGC folder.
      Add Fingerprint:
      Go to Settings > Accounts > Sign-in Options > Add a PIN/Face/Fingerprint.
    3. Power Reset:
      Unplug the power cable.
Press and hold the power button for 30 seconds.
      Turn the computer back on.
    4. BIOS Reset (if necessary):
Consult your Acer Spin 513-54N-74V2 manual for instructions on how to reset the BIOS.

So what you are showing are these below, they look like the oem screws, which is what should be on my laptop

    Flathead.png

But these are the screws that are on my case below, I have to say as well I had to send in my unit to be repaired and Acer dropped the ball, they didnt put the screws back in that hold the motherboard to the case, I noticed this when I changed out the cases. I had to put 2 screws to hold down the motherboard to the case.

Your process #2 does not work as the pin is the item that is removed since the fingerprint is not found in Hello, resetting this only resets pin

Process #4 will not work as well as there is no fingerprint options in the BIOS.

Thanks for the help but I dont care about the fingerprint as the pin works and I am good with that

It doesn't matter whether the screws are phillips or torx, as long as they are M2x6mm.

My Acer is a different model but I had the same problem. The sensor did not appear under Biometric Devices and there was an unknown USB device with a code 43 error that was related. I got advice from ChatGPT to fully shut down windows, unplug the laptop charger and then hold the power button down for thirty seconds. On Acers this does cause the computer to cycle on and off repeatedly but this did fix the problem! The explanation was that the Embedded Controller (EC) was in a stuck state that would survive a reboot of full shutdown.

"Only a hard reset (e.g. holding the power button down) forces the EC to fully reset its internal logic and USB power rails."

Correct I actually ordered those screws and they are hex, so I have phillips and hex and now my laptop feels tighter

I too used Chatgpt, youtube for trying to repair the fingerprint scanner without having to redo a clean install. Everything I tried inlcuding a hard reset with the power didnt work. Do I miss the fingerprint scanner? Yes only to quickly sign in, but the pin is working so as long as that does, I am good. Whats funny is the fingerprint scanner does have movement when I put a fingertip, I am able to use it as a mouse? So it is working as it has feedback.

I also realized that my pen is not working as well, everything was connected correctly and I have 3 pens and none of them work.

My keyboard was lost in delievery and everything was taking apart for 4 days, before I got the keyboard parts. I was thinking that this was the problem, as the memory with the fingerprint scanner had been discharged for that time?

Or that my reinstall of Windows 11 screwed everything, even though Windows 11 was working with the fingerprint scanner before. I am now on Windows 11 pro as I was upgraded for free from Microsoft.

The Acer software downloads are only for Windows 10, and me not doing for a full reinstall and deleting everything, would seem to be the most logical reason why the finger print and pen are not working. I only needed the pen to sign a PDF, I am using it as I was before. So the pen and Fingerprint not working, dont bother me

Unsure why you feel that way, as I have stated I have done everything that was suggested and what you stated and nothing has fixed the issues. I also stated what I think the issues are
