Does the Acer A3 A315-53-50Y7 model motherboard support a backlit keyboard?

If I purchased a replacement backlit keyboard, will this particular model (A315-53-50Y7) support it?

The original keyboard has gone "on the fritz" and is beginning to fail. A faulty/failing keyboard presents itself as a power issue (i.e., failing/faulty adapter or battery).

Now I need to hold down a key during boot up (for instance, the 'Esc' key) and keep holding it down the entire time I run Windows. As soon as I let get of the key, the laptop turns-off (i.e., like a "hard" power off).

So, as I research options for a replacement keyboard and *if* the A315-53-50Y7 supports backlit keyboards, I might as well upgrade to one.

Anyone have success installing one in an A315-53?

Hi, the Acer A3 A315-53-50Y7 does not come with a backlit keyboard. Motherboard does not support KB backlit.

The Aspire A315-53 laptop came with an optional backlight keyboard (see diagram below) as specified in its service guide below, you can upgrade your laptop to a backlight keyboard but you need to plug the power cable for this laptop into the JBL1 plug as shown highlighted below. Good luck and hope this assist you further.

This is the Aspire A315-53 mobo diagram of all its connectors, the keyboard connector and the keyboard backlight connector is shown highlighted below. You need to buy and upgrade to a keyboard with a backlight, as the A315-53 has the JBL1 plug below for the keyboard backlight to connect to and the keyboard light will work 100% for the Aspire A315-53, you can find them on eBay and they are very cheap.
