Why GTX GeForce 1050 stopped working on Nitro 5 AN515-52 after April update?

My Graphics Card is not getteng detected by my Laptop anymore it stopped working completely.

Initial signs:
1. I was playing Valorant (on lowest settings) and suddenly game crashed with some GPU error, afterwards game never opened.
2. Thermals were showing more than 90 degrees in Nitrosense (even in idle condition)
3. Windows started crashing frequently (BSODs: Driver state failure, Video TDR and what not)
4. Screen starts freezing even in idle conditions

Steps I did to fix it:
1. Power Reset (unpugged the battery and pressed power button to discharge the capatitors too)
2. System Restore
3. Cleaned up fans and whole laptop (reassembled whole laptop)
4. Changed Thermal Paste (very best in the market)
5. Rolled Back to windows 10 (where everything was back to normal thermals was down and was working normally except GPU drivers were missing and were not installing {GPU driver was stopping with error code 43})
6. Reinstalled windows 11 as GPU driver was not getting recognized.
7. Tried to flash Nvidia BIOS but it turns out we can't do that in this laptop (EEPROM not supported)
8. Removed GPU drivers using DDU and reinstalled GPU drivers multiple times from multiple sources (Nvidia Official Page, Nvidia Archives for old drivers, Acer Drivers support) {Everytime I installed GPU driver it was not getting started in device driver code error 43)
9.Lastly I tried the step 8 in Safe Mode, Driver got installed but when I restarted it in normal mode it again started crashing with following BSODs: Memmory error, Video TDR, Video Scheduler. (So went back into safe mode and uninstalled the GPU drivers)

Right now my Laptop is running smoothly its just that I can't use GPU anymore and can't play game (one single game Valorant) on it, I am a professional video editor so I can't even use After effects, blender, Unity nothing anymore. Bought this ***** so called gaming laptop just to use Word and excel?

Also Now I read some news article that Nvidia is discontinuing its GTX 10 series. So I wonder if it was all planned or not? If they really pushed a buggy software update to corrupt the 10 series GPU or not.

Kindly share any solutions if you have. Also share if you are also facing the same issue after March-April (Windows, Nvidia) updates.

I don't recommend upgrading a 2019 laptop, especially one with an 8th Gen CPU and GTX 10-series GPU, to Windows 11 24H2. If you're already on 23H2 and everything works fine, it’s safer to stay put rather than risk major compatibility issues. To roll back to version 23H2 you need to clean install a Windows ISO file downloaded from UUPdump.net.

The Nitro AN515-52 with the GTX1050 gpu symptoms that you are getting is because either a mosfet or a capacitor are shorted or the gpu is fried, this is very common in gaming laptops if the protective mosfet chip that filters the gpu voltage shorts and allows a high current into the gpu.

To be 100% sure take your laptop to an experienced technician that can pinpoint the problem correctly as it could also be a capacitor that shorted which can be changed and the GTX1050 gpu made to work again. This has to be pinpointed by a technician that will inject power into the power rail and pinpointing the shorted chips like a mosfet, capacitor or the gpu with a thermal gun and can test the gpu if its shorted. if the GTX1050 is shorted you either disable this gpu and use the cpu graphics only or and if you want a gaming board with the GTX1050 gpu you need to change the mainboard.

Btw these old Nitro boards are available and are reasonably priced with better specs than what your Nitro AN515-52 laptop has, and its cheaper than buying a new Win-11 Nitro laptop, and you can also upgrade to the one up model AN515-53 mainboards (as its exactly the same) with higher specs, So do your research, as Ali Express or eBay will have these mainboards reasonably price and cheaper than fixing the board or buying another Nitro laptop. Good luck and hope this helps you out.
