Did you open heatsink and clean air vents from inside? Which thermal paste you used? Did you clean old thermal paste properly?

Use the new high end pastes and putty that are made today, as the old Nitro 5 laptops oem paste that Acer used were the normal paste which were not as efficient as the new pastes available today whcih are specifically made for high temps and gaming temps, you should also use liquid metal for the cpu of your Nitro 5 and the extreme paste for the gpu and high end putty for the vram chips.

Use these Thermal grizzly pastes and putty for best cooling of these components for gaming performance. I used these products on my Nitro 5 AN515-56 and it worked perfectly and reduced temps by 15-20°C

    1. Conductonaut Extreme liquid metal for the CPU
    2. Kryonaut Extreme for the GPU
    3. TG Putty for the VRAM chips

The laptop is heating up because most probably the its running on at its full speed with no power saving turned on when plugged. Its also charging the batteries which can also cause the laptop to heat up. Just make sure to check the vents of your laptop if there's hot air coming out.
It is quite normal for the laptop to heat up, since the internal electronic components may generate heat while the laptop runs, especially during power-intensive operations such as charging, updating, gaming, etc. If you have an air-conditioned room, preferably use the laptop in there. If the room is not air conditioned, make use of a ceiling or table fan along with a laptop cooling pad. Laptop cooling pads have fans in them which help flow cool air keeping your laptop cool all time.
