I have a Acer Predator G6-710 with windows 10 which support will end soon. With the Microsoft check tool, it fails for the Intel processor. I have the Intel® Core™ I7-6700K CPU @4.00GHz. Will this unit handle windows 11, if not can my processor be upgraded to accept windows 11 specs. If it can be upgraded, please advise what unit to use.

Thanks, Vinny

    @Valvedoctor

    This model is not officially supported and may require bypassing certain hardware requirements, which could lead to compatibility issues.

    The Predator G6-710, with its 7th generation Intel Core processors, doesn't meet the minimum hardware requirements for Windows 11, which include 8th generation or later CPUs, TPM 2.0, and UEFI BIOS. It typically uses an older generation CPU, which might not meet the Windows 11 requirements. Have a look here for all the guides on Windows 11 specs, features and computer requirements

    Some users have found ways to bypass the Windows 11 hardware requirements using tools like Rufus or by modifying the installation process, but this is not officially supported and can lead to instability.

    If you're satisfied with Windows 10, it's a stable and supported operating system. You can consider upgrading your CPU, motherboard, and other components to meet the Windows 11 requirements if you want to use the latest operating system.

    I hope this helps! If this was useful, please hit 'Yes' or 'Like'! Thanks! 😊

    Hi @Valvedoctor you shouldn't have any issues with Windows 11 22H & 23H2 and the Intel® Core™ i7-6700K processor. I know of computers with that processor, even older versions, that have Windows 11, although I can't confirm your specific case for the rest of the hardware.
    That said, Microsoft does not recommend installing it on computers with processors not on its support list due to security concerns. In 2018, some processors were affected by design flaws that made them vulnerable.
    If you install it, you may not receive some updates.

    Your G6-710 desktop is a 2016 model Acer product, its going onto 10 years and Win-11 was released in 2021, Win-11 might work but you will most definitely have driver problems that is going to be problematic with this laptop always operating with Win-11. Stick to Win-10 as that is the best OS for your G6-710 desktop to work properly and 100%.

    If you want a Win-11 and beyond OS Acer product buy a new desktop like the Predator Orion 5000 PO5-655 or the 7000 PO7-655 Gaming Desktop Computers as they are the latest and will work for you for another 10 years. Or upgrade the G6-710 desktops mobo, cpu to a 13th or 14th Gen or an AMD, change the ram and PSU which are all an appropriate type upgrade for Win-11 OS and beyond OSs that Microsoft will come up with in the next 10 years😀. Good luck
