I just bought a new Acer Nitro V 15 ANV15-41 which has Ryzen 5 6600H RTX 3050 6gb and 16 gb Ram 1 month ago. It was all good until I ran a CPU intensive program. To be specific, I played 'NFS the Run' first, After 2 gameplays, laptop suddenly shut down. I thought maybe something heppend. I tried that game again, but after sometime, it again heppend. After that, I tried 'NFS MW 2005' but it went smooth, I still play that. And after that, I installed 'NFS Heat', but again, after half an hour, it again crashed and laptop shut down. In fear, I uninstalled every game thinking those caused this problem. But then I noticed that maybe the CPU temperature causing this issue cause when it touches 82°, this happens and NFS 2005 was not that CPU intensive, thats why it ran smooth. After that, I haven't tried anything and using in normal works. I am afraid that my laptop has manufacturing defect. I talked to customer service, but they asked for a video as proof and I'm trying but am not able to capture that in right moment. What should I do now? Please help.

Are you certain that the shutdown occurs when the CPU temperature reaches 82°C? Use MSI Afterburner for real-time monitoring of CPU and GPU temperatures while gaming. This will allow you to check the exact temperature when this happens, and you can record the evidence using your phone.

Steps to Monitor CPU and GPU Temperatures with MSI Afterburner

    1. Download and Install MSI Afterburner:
      • Visit the official MSI website and download the MSI Afterburner software.
      • Follow the installation instructions to install it on your PC.
    2. Launch MSI Afterburner:
      • Start the application to begin monitoring.
    3. Enable CPU and GPU Temperature Monitoring:
      • Click on the cog icon to open the settings menu.
      • Navigate to the "Monitoring" tab.
      • Ensure that both "CPU Temperature" and "GPU Temperature" are checked.
    4. Configure On-Screen Display (OSD):
      • In the "Monitoring" tab, select "Show in On-Screen Display" for CPU and GPU temperatures to view them during gameplay.
    5. Record Evidence:
      • Use your phone to record the screen when the shutdown occurs to provide evidence to customer service.

By following these steps, you can accurately monitor temperatures and capture evidence of the issue.

It might be due to Overheating. Overheating can be caused by poor ventilation, dust buildup, or failing cooling fans. Prevention: Ensure that your computer is well-ventilated, regularly clean the dust from your components, and check that all cooling fans are functioning correctly. To help reduce the temperature, you can place the Laptop on a hard, flat surface, clean the air vents and fans, adjust power settings, use a cooling pad, or turn off the Laptop when not in use. If necessary, monitoring the temperature and consulting a professional is also recommended.

Get a powerful 5-fan cooling pad the size of your laptop and reduce the Max. Processor Power state to 95% when on power. Also use Balanced Power Plan instead of Maximum Performance Power Plan. Up to 95°C. under heavy load no issues, the CPU can sustain 100°C.Disable NVIDIA/AMD Dedicated graphics card for a while and test your temps. Also boot in safe mode and open task manager with GPU ENABLED and see if you can check the temperature. If its hot, then graphics is the issue. Undervolting means to decrease power draw for better cooling and higher clocks of the cpu and can be done using Throttle stop.

Have you updated BIOS to the new version 1.15 dated 2025/02/27 that modifies the power setting parameters?

I would take the laptop to Acer Center in your country, this should not happen even for a budget-friendly laptop.
