Laptop model: AN515-55-53AG

A week ago, in the middle of playing Elden Ring my laptop shut off randomly. No shutting down screen, just completely black. It was plugged in, and as far as I know at full battery, so I assume there's no problems with the outlet or cord. I replaced the battery with a brand new one, tried holding the power button for a minute or two multiple times with battery disconnected, cord unplugged, both in, one in, one out, and every possible combination I can think of. The battery light will still not turn on, even with the new battery installed. I need help!

    Answer ✓

The motherboard is faulty due to a short circuit on a particular location on the motherboard (CPU, GPU, PCH, …)

You can take the laptop to a technician who is specialized in repairing the motherboard.

If your Acer Nitro 5 AN515-55-53AG suddenly turned off while playing and won't turn on, with no charging light, Try a hard reset by disconnecting the power, battery, and CMOS battery, holding the power button, and then reconnecting everything.
Here's a more detailed breakdown of potential solutions:-

    1. Hard Reset:
Unplug the AC adapter: Disconnect the power cord from both the laptop and the wall outlet.
Remove the battery: Carefully remove the battery from its compartment.
Remove the CMOS battery: Locate the CMOS battery (usually a small coin cell) and carefully remove it.
Hold the power button: Press and hold the power button for 60-90 seconds.
Reconnect the CMOS battery: Reinsert the CMOS battery.
Reconnect the battery: Reinsert the main battery.
Plug in the AC adapter: Connect the power cord back to the laptop and the wall outlet.
Try to boot: Attempt to power on the laptop.
    2. Check the Power Adapter and Cord:
      Inspect for damage:
Examine the power adapter and cord for any signs of damage, such as frayed wires, cracks, or bent prongs.
      Test with a different adapter:
If possible, try using a different, known-working power adapter to see if the problem persists.
    3. Check for Overheating:
      Ensure proper ventilation:
Make sure the laptop's vents are not blocked by anything, such as clothing, blankets, or other objects.
      Use a cooling pad:
If the laptop is overheating, consider using a cooling pad to help dissipate heat.
    4. Other Troubleshooting Steps:
      Check the charging light:
If the charging light is still not illuminated after the hard reset and power adapter checks, it could indicate a problem with the charging circuitry.
      Try a different power outlet:
Test the laptop with a different power outlet to rule out any issues with the current outlet.
      Consult Acer support:
If none of the above steps resolve the issue, contact Acer support for further assistance.
    5. Potential Hardware Issues:
      Motherboard:
A failing motherboard could prevent the laptop from powering on or charging.
      Power Supply:
A faulty power supply unit (PSU) could also cause the laptop to fail to power on.
      Internal Components:
Other internal components, such as capacitors or resistors, could be damaged.
    6. Internal Inspection (Advanced):
If you are comfortable with internal laptop repairs, you can carefully open the laptop and visually inspect the components for any signs of damage, such as burnt components or loose connections.
If you find any damaged components, you may need to replace them.
Note: If you are not comfortable with internal laptop repairs, it is best to seek professional assistance from a qualified technician.
