I’m having an issue with my laptop’s camera. When I try to make a video call

I’m having an issue with my laptop’s camera. When I try to make a video call using apps like Facebook Messenger, WhatsApp, or Viber, the video freezes or shows weird lines, even though the camera works fine in other apps (like the Windows Camera app). The audio works just fine during calls. I’ve tried uninstalling and reinstalling the camera driver, as well as other troubleshooting steps, but nothing has fixed the problem. The authorized service center also confirmed that the hardware seems fine.

Has anyone faced a similar issue, and could you please suggest a simple solution to fix this? I’d really appreciate your help!

Thanks in advance!

It is more like the app that's having issues than the camera, since the camera works fine in other apps. Does it work in Zoom or Teams?

This issue likely stems from a conflict or incompatibility within those specific applications, rather than a hardware problem.

Close any other applications that might be using your camera or microphone, as this can cause conflicts.
Try resetting the app to its default settings. For Messenger, go to Settings > Apps > Apps & features, find Messenger, and click on the advanced options link, then click Reset.

Some users have reported that built-in video call effects in Messenger can cause issues. Try disabling them. If you are using Messenger in your web browser, which browser are you using? Have you tried an alternative web browser?

A weak or unstable internet connection can lead to video call issues. Ensure you have a stable and fast internet connection. If other devices on your network are using a lot of bandwidth, it can impact video call quality. Try reducing the number of devices connected to the network or using a wired Ethernet connection if possible.

Make sure your Windows operating system is up to date. To check for Windows updates, go to Start > Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update, then click "Check for updates".

I hope this helps! If this was useful, please hit 'Yes' or 'Like'! Thanks! 😊
