Hi,

I was wondering if the Predator Helios 18 can be upgraded to 96GB of RAM

and if there are 2 M2 drives for the laptop to be upgraded to as well.

Thank you,

    Hi,

    Acer Predator Helios 18 WQXGA

    Model: PH18-71-924C

I know that with other 18 inch Intel I-9 models 128 GB is the max and 2 slots for at least 2 different sized M.2 SSD's are present also.

    Thank you,

Theoretically the Intel i9-14900HX cpu is specified to work with a max ram capacity of 128GB DDR5-5600MT/s CL46 type ram and theoretically can work with 2x 48GB or 64GB DDR5-5600MT/s CL46 type ram.

There are manufacturers that have and sell DDR5 SODIMM 262 pin modules with a capacity of 48GB or 64GB DDR5-5600MT/s CL46 type and there have been laptops that have been upgraded to these higher ram capacities, I can't guarantee that your PH18-72 will work with 96GB or 128GB ram,

I can guarantee that your PH18-72 will work (the Acer specs below is what Acer tested this laptop with and not the max ram that it can work with) like 64GB @ 2x 32GB DDR5-5600MT/s CL46 type ram.

Note: For the higher capacities do the research and find out and consult a ram manufacturer that make and sell these 48GB and 64GB DDR5-5600MT/s CL46 type ram modules, like Kingston, Corsair etc and ask them.

Btw, I'm using a Predator Helios Neo PNH16-71 laptop that I've upgraded this laptop to 64GB capacity ram @ 2x 32GB DDR5-4800MT/s CL40 (so the PH18-72 laptop should also work at 64GB DDR5-5600MT/s CL46) as my laptop has the i5-13500HX cpu and this laptop works perfectly with this capacity ram too and can also be theoretically upgraded to 128GB max capacity DDR5-4800MT/s CL40, as far as Intel specs are concerned,

Officialy according to Acer, you can upgrade memory up to 32GB using two sticks of identical 16GB rams, I haven't seen anyone upgrading this model above 32GB.

Other sites, like Crucial states that you can upgrade up to 64GB and PHS memory states that you can upgrade 96GB, you may try these modules at your own risk. Below is offical memory guide for your laptop by acer:

As for SSD, You laptop have two M.2 2280 PCIe Gen 4x4 upto 2TB. Higher sizes may also work, but you should try it first. If it doesn't work, then consider getting the 2TB variant. Make sure the seller allows you to do this.

    Thank you

It's a shame that no one has tried to upgrade this PC to 96GB of RAM

It's a very powerful pc and having 64GB only as a safe cap makes me not want to look further into buying one.

    Thank you sir,
