Hi all,

This issue has been plaguing me and my mates device for the past 2-3 years. The Mediatek MT7291 Drivers provided by ACER are not operational and keep causing my PC to have BSOD's. This happened since new, and checking each minidump file it always leads to FAILURE_BUCKET_ID: 0x9F_3_mtkwl6ex_IMAGE_pci.sys. This seems to be a component if the WIFI driver. I have tried reinstalling each WIFI driver multiple times over the years. The issue is always apparent, and usually occurs when the device is changing power state.

This is most certainly and broken driver, How do I get acer to release new sets of drivers?

Thanks.

Hi, check if you have the latest driver for the MT7921LE card dated November 2023. Run DISM and SFC Scans: Open the Command Prompt as Administrator and paste this line: Dism.exe /online /cleanup-image /restorehealth and after completion (sometimes can take 30 minutes) paste this: SFC /scannow that shout complete with "…did not find any integrity violations" repeat till you see that. Run MSconfig.exe and enable Safe Boot, press Apply and reboot. Enable some services and reboot till you get the BSOD (see link) https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/topic/how-to-perform-a-clean-boot-in-windows-da2f9573-6eec-00ad-2f8a-a97a1807f3dd

I appreciate the instructions, but I've done these exact steps before, and with a clean installation of windows. The issue is identifying which service, as these steps simply reduce the frequency of issues, making it harder to troubleshoot. My guess it will be 2-3 months before I see the exact same BSOD.

This is the case on both SFX 14 41G's. Looking up online it seems that some Lenovo and Asus users with the same WIFI card had similar issues. This was fixed upon a new driver release by the respective manufacturers, although some people simply changed to an intel wifi card.

I have tried installing these drivers before, but I usually get unexpected behaviour and I'd rather something authorised by Acer Support.

Firs, I suggest you use the actual model number, SFX14-41G, rather than having all those extra spaces and missing dashes, so we can just copy and paste into Acer's search engines. Their search is really brain dead and doesn't handle anything other than an exact match. Thanks…

Next, which MediaTek drivers are you currently running? I see that Acer has released three different driver packages for the MT7921LE, with 3.3.0.760 from 2023 being the latest. I believe most laptop manufacturers who used those cards did updates about the same time… If you are running one that's older than that be sure and update before retesting. You might also think about changing to a different card if you are seeing issues still, you could drop an Intel AX210 instead and have the same performance with drivers that are likely more stable.
