I hear that many USB connected fingerprint readers work well with desktops but have problems working correctly with laptops. My Kensington VeriMark Desktop USB Fingerprint Key continuously wakes up my Acer Nitro AN517-42 laptop from sleep mode every 11 minutes. Does anyone know of a USB (prefer -A but can work with a -C) fingerprint reader that has FIDO2 capabilities that works ok with Acer laptops?

The Niro 5 AN515-42 released in 2018 did not come with a fingerprint sensor, these Kensington VeriMark Fingerprint readers are a USB type aftermarket 3rd party gadget that could cause allot of problems and could lock your laptop permanently if they are faulty, so be very careful as its not advisable to use them. Only us the security aspects that your laptop has oem from Acer and your OS has within windows.

Sorry but the OEM security aspects from Acer are no longer sufficient for PassKeys and Windows 11 OS does support external USB devices, such as fingerprint readers. It is the power management processes in the Acer that are the limiting factor so all I want to do is see if another user has found a USB fingerprint reader that does function correctly, including not waking up the Acer laptop from sleep.
