Really really low volume at 100%: AV16-51P. Any thoughts and/or suggestions?

love my new vero but the volume even at max is not much more than a whisper (and world's worse than my cheapo 3-year-old aspire 5). i've messed with the DTS app and so forth but am not getting any improvements. at 50% volume i can barely hear anything. might have to send the thing back if i can't get some satisfactory noise. any thoughts and/or suggestions?

Install FXSound enhancer as its also FREE and has allot of different music type presets and its an excellent sound enhance that will increase the volume of your Aspire AV16-51P laptop headphones (which you should be listening to music with) or its inbuilt speakers , it did for my Nitro AN515-56 laptop.

thanks for that. i'll give it a go. fwiw, i'm not listening to music but to movies. and i don't like wearing earphones.

is there any reason why the native max volume on this thing would be just a few notches above inaudible? i've had acers before — and my old A515-43-R19L ran circles around this vero. a few very cheap asus ones, too, and ditto.

i guess my question would be: is this normal for this particular model? and if so … why?

The volume and audio in your Aspire AV16-51P laptop is depended on the Realtek audio driver and the Intel graphics audio drivers that are interconnected to the Bluetooth volume and the overall audio output of your laptop, its a strange setup on these new laptops as that is what is happening.

Another alternative is to completely uninstall the Realtek audio and Intel graphics through Device Manger and then install your Aspire AV16-51P oem driver s from the Acer Drivers & manuals support page and let Win-11 update these drivers to their most compatible as one of these drivers must be corrupted and not working fully, and its affecting the volume of your laptops audio.

let's see … i updated intel graphics via intel when i first got the laptop yesterday. as to realtek, i don't see that listed as an audio driver, only something called soundwire. and i don't see a soundwire driver listed at the support page. the realtek audio console is installed but doesn't seem to do anything. thanks for any additional help you can offer.

i downloaded a db meter to my phone and put it in front of the speakers at full volume. it placed the level at 'quiet office.' not good!

Install FXSound enhancer as that will boost the volume of the laptop and it also has allot of different music type presets, I'm using that in my Nitro AN515-56 and it works really well. Good luck and hope this solves the volume issue as this is a common thing with these laptops.

thanks for that, and it does work. i am still curious about all those drivers i have, none of them realtek, and wonder if those are the right ones for this model, since they aren't among those listed on the support page you linked me to. any idea or do you know how i can find out?

Completely uninstall bothe of these drivers, the Version 10.0.92.1 Audio Driver (ALC712) is the Realtek audio driver for your Aspire AV16-51PT (right click all the audio in Sound video and game controllers to see which is the Realtek driver) also install the Realtek Audio Console Driver version 1.48.313.0 and the Intel VGA Driver(UMA) version 31.0.101.5125, as these are the oem Acer audio drivers that determine your laptops audio, as eventually windows update will update them drivers to the latest and most compatible drivers, so that your audio will function properly.

i don't quite understand what you are saying when you say to delete "both" drivers. which 2 drivers are you talking about? i count 9 soundwire drivers under 'controllers' and one soundwire thing under audio input. i have right clicked everything and nothing says realtek.

you mention ALC712 driver but it's unclear what you want me to do with it.

could you be more specific about what you want me to do?

also: i bought the laptop last week, brand spanking new, the box sealed. kinda weird to have these soundwire drivers on the thing as OEM.

Uninstall the Intel graphics driver in Device Manager > Display adapters completely, then install the oem Intel VGA Driver(UMA) version 31.0.101.5125 that Acer installed onto your latop initially.

With the Realtek drivers, if you don't have the the Version 10.0.92.1 Audio Driver (ALC712) Realtek audio driver, then install this and the Realtek Audio Console Driver version 1.48.313.0 also as this will make your audio allot louder and work allot better. so do all the above as per the Acer Aspire AV16-51PT support page drivers.

sadly, i did as you suggest and though it said everything was installed, the device drivers shown are still just the ones you see in the photos posted up top in this thread. no realtek drivers seen. no impact on volume or anything.

If your laptop audio volume is better with the FXSound audio enhancer software just leave it like it is as that is all the audio quality and volume you can get out of this laptop, as it was never designed as a Hi-Fi ear blasting powerhouse audio laptop anyway😂

agreed re fxsound, but as i've said before, i would still like to know why i can't get the realtrek drivers to show up. and how in the world would i ever update the soundwire drivers i do have since they aren't listed on the support page? something is amiss, since a search here does not bring up but one or two references to soundwire. part of me thinks i should do a clean install of windows and see what happens. anyway, thanks for your help.
