Hello new acer owner i bought this laptop

Acer Nitro 17 Gaming
Geforce RTX 4060
AMD Ryzen 7 8845HS
AN17-42-R9TH

It comes with DDR-5600 Ram, Dose any one know if i could upgrade it to 6000? or will the mobo not support that? Also Will i be able to overclock/under volt(only interested in undervolting) in the bios? or perhaps with some software? Again thank any one willing to help me out here have a great day/night.

No, you can't. 5600 MHz is the maximum frequency supported by your laptop's motherboard. Overclocking/undervolting ram are only available to PCs. Trying to use any unofficial methods will damage your laptop and void warrenty.

By the way, the GPU can be undervolted using MSI Afterburner after configuring some settings. However, we need to be cautious when using this software and should never attempt to overclock or overvolt; only undervolting is recommended. Many guides on this topic are available on YouTube.

As for the CPU, there is a tool called AATU Utility that may allow you to reduce TDP or undervolt. I tested it on my Ryzen a year ago, and there are also YouTube videos available on this subject. However, AMD mobile CPUs can be challenging to undervolt since they may already be locked.

Important note- Do it at your own risk. As it's only safe if you use for only undervolting correctly: MSI Afterburner for GPU undervolting is very effective. Options will be accessible after configuring some settings in MSI Afterburner. You can try both software tools, but ensure that you do not attempt overvolting or overclocking, as laptops are not designed for this. I recommend checking MSI Afterburner, as it is a good tool for undervolting and is user-friendly.

You can't update the speed. The maximum frequency supported by your laptop is determined by the OEM RAM you have. If you want to upgrade to 16 or 32 GB RAM, you should get compatible RAM with the same specifications, including the same CAS latency, voltage, DDR5 type, same frequency and JEDEC profile.

Also, the Acer Nitro 17 AN17-42 does not natively support XMP (Extreme Memory Profile) in its BIOS, and it's recommended to use standard JEDEC SODIMMS for RAM.

I hope this helps! If this was useful, please hit 'Yes' or 'Like'! Thanks! 😊

i only used the overclock/undervolt as a type of info/source i was looking for. im an all undervolted kinda of person… no point in OC these days everything is OC out the box pretty much. which is why i like undervolting so much just reduces heat/power use, and gives us a tiny bit of performance boost.

Again thank you both for helping me out!
