The more confused that I get ???

    Encrypted disk,

    Deleted partitions.

Why not format a good disk and install a clean install as other's have advised. ???

Or just clone the original drive… Don't clone a drive from a different system, that is likely why the encryption doesn't work, since it's working off different hardware, and the encryption keys are tied to hardware often. A cloned install from the original is best, a clean install of the OS is second best.

The copy of my original boot disk copy is working well and boots quickly using a new SSD! 10 seconds from power on to login screen of which 6 seconds are in BIOS! Its just about being back to being my main Windows PC again! The disk is not encrypted!

The Windows 11 USB install drive still does not see the hard disk and don't intend to investigate any more! Something broke when I accidentally deleted the 2nd directory on the boot disk!

I think the reason I created the separate Windows 11 boot disk last July was to investigate running on a non Windows 11 compatible PC at some point in the future. It was originally installed on the Acer PC but don't know if it was a copy of the original disk or was a clean install.

It did not boot in the Acer PC a few weeks ago. However it did boot in a 10 year old PC with ungraded AMD 4GHZ 8 core processor!! It was left running for a day or so as it undated to the latest Windows 11 update. When the SSD disk was returned to the Acer PC it now booted and seems to be fully functioning! I suspect it may not support encrypted disk but will try on a copy of the current boot disk!
