New Battery will not charge and now my screen is blinking? Aspire ES1-523

Okay, so one step forward and two back, I guess?

I finally have a battery in this old thing it will recognize, but now it won't take a charge when plugged in. 55% and fading now, with no other power getting through that I can tell.

As well; possibly a symptom of cracking it open so many times, trying to fix this; the screen is blinking now. Not going all the way dark, just noticeably flickering.

What can I do here?

First and the easiest solution is to change the DC_IN plug and cable as that could be faulty for such an old laptop, and its why your battery doesn't charge or check the adapter and change that if its faulty, if that doesn’t work then its either the EC or chipset chips that are faulty (if you want to keep this old laptop) buy a new Aspire ES1-523 mainboard as they are pretty cheap from Ali express and change the mobo to solve all these charging and battery problems as it’s the mainboard main charging rail governor that is faulty and not worth fixing. Good luck and hope his helps you out.

Parts for the ES1-523 you need

Search for these ES1-523 mainboards on Ali Expresses f=as a replacement for your ES1-523 laptop , as its a much cheaper fix for your laptop problems.

Oh wow. Well I am not up to doing a board, that's for sure.

    But the adapter is new.

I guess I'll keep it shut down and try and get a new in-plug and cable?

But is this why the screen is flickering???

The screen is flickering because its eDP LCD cable could be faulty or the screen could be on its way out, so look at replacing those parts too.

These are the screen model number that the ES1-523 laptop was fitted with from Acer, which is an LED 15.6” Ultra Slim screen model numbers below.

Well, a screen has got to be a bridge too far for a unit of this age. is the cable easy to replace?
