Cannot Restore Aspire One with Memory Upgrade to Factory Default OS

I want to give my Aspire One D255E to my grandson. I erased all of my personal files and tried to eRecovery to the factory default OS (Windows 7) with eRecovery. I had forgotten that I had upgraded the memory over a year ago and apparently that caused the eRecovery to fail. Now I have an error "Windows failed to start. A recent hardware or software change might be the cause.....", and instructions to insert the Windows installation disk which I obviously don't have. At the bottom of this screen are two options "ENTER = Continue" (no Windows disk) or "ESC = Escape". Either choice takes me back around to the above mentioned screen.

Does anyone have any suggestions on how to get my Aspire functional again?

I had this same issue yesterday and could not use the recovery/restore partition to re-install...but I had a Hirens Boot disc that I used to "boot from hard drive" and it opened the erecovery program...if you can get a version of this which you can also find and download for free on the web then this may help...you insert or use a disc reader and there are many programs on the disc...you need to use the "boot windows 7/XP/etc from hard drive" which on my cd is one of the first programs in the list...you can read up about this Hirens Boot disc before you use it and you will see there are many good reviews of the facilities...it worked for me...good luck.
