PH317-55 Nvidia 3060 GPU not recognized

Ran into a situation where my laptop is not recognizing my Nvidia GPU. It says that I am connect to a wired display and using Microsoft Basic Display Driver.

Device Manager sees it but show generic monitor.

I even disabled the Intel UHD Graphics (which that works and is detected just fine).

I first noticed this issue when I was trying to play a movie in Plex from my local server. The video was extremely choppy and low FPS. However, when I moved the window to my HP Monitor (2nd Monitor) it played just fine. So it's definitely happening on my laptop monitor.

I've used DDU in safe mode to removed NVidia and Intel drivers. I've reset WIN11. I've installed the drivers via Device Manager - Driver Update method vs running the driver installer, nothing seems to change that my GPU will not function.

NVidia app only sees my HP monitor, not my laptop one. So multi monitor setup is not an option. I also get this error in NVidia app when trying to force GPU to 3060

This laptop, unfortunately, has expired warranty.. but does anyone have any suggestions as to what the heck is going on?

Hi, download DDU freeware from Wagnardsoft.com and boot to Safe Mode, open DDU and uninstall the Nvidia dGPU driver (in Safe Mode) https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/support/articles/000091878/graphics.html just reboot (top left button on picture) and do not install any GPU drivers, Windows will install the correct driver.

If you have used the DDU uninstaller to uninstall the NVidia and Intel graphics and then reinstalled them both as a clean install, then make sure you have the last bios version 1.14 installed and all the firmware updates in windows updates @ Advanced options > Optional updates and see if the RTX3060 works, as the RTX3060 is recognized in Device Manager of the PH317-55 so its not fried,

With the NVidia app only seeing your HP monitor, not your laptop one, it could be an eDP cable plugs issue of your laptop at the monitor eDP plug or the mobo plug or the actual cable is damaged and that is why its doing that. Best is to take your PH317-55 to a technician and let them pinpoint the exact problem, as to me it doesn't seem like its the RTX3060 gpu that is fried, as its showing in Device Manager and if the RTX3060 was friend it wouldn’t be showing in Device manager as its vram or gpu chip would be dead and your laptop would not boot with an image, as the RTX3060 needs to be disabled before the Intel cpu HD graphics can operate properly. Try that and let us know the outcome and fix of your laptop.

PH317-55 eDP cables, check this cable and check the plugs data lines if they are not shorted at the screen and mobo plugs

Thanks for the advice gents. @Puraw , as stated in my initial message, I did use DDU (multiple times in safe mode) and no change.

@StevenGen , I just completed a full system wipe. Zeroed out the drive and re-installed windows. Full updates, Optional included (.NET install) . Device manager sees the GPU as in previous screenie. Same issues came with it. Even the Nvidia app now show No display connected. Looks like it may be the cable… i'll have to take it in and get it looked over :-/
