New charger for Nitro 5 AN515-45 R588

Good day,

I need a new charger for my Acer Nitro 5 AN515-45 R588.

I still do own the original charger with the 180W, 19,5V and 9,23A output however my issue is mainly the following.

I've noticed that during high performance-requiring games such as Star Wars Outlaws, Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 and other games similar to those 2, with how specification heavy they are, that my battery (while my laptop is plugged in) tends to start draining and FPS randomly drops for up to a minute before reverting back up to what it normally is at.

Now I've read that apparently my charger isn't putting out enough power for my laptop to handle hence why it will take power from my battery which in turn can cause performance drops.

Now I've looked into it for the last 2 hours and I've found out that it is possible for me to use a different charger that can put more power out but I need to make sure the voltage remains the same with a maximum difference of 1 voltage, meaning that in this case the 19,5V adapter can be changed for a 20/20,5V adapter if I'm not mistaken.

I then searched specifically for an adapter that could work out but it is one that is made by ASUS, specifically the ASUS AD280-00E(ADP-280EB B) adapter. This link is in Dutch but it shows the specifications that it has.

It would be a great help to me if I can get an answer to hopefully be able to get a more powerful adapter as the standard 180W & 9,23A seems to not be a good fit for the games I am playing.

Do not use another manufacturers adapter for your AN515-45 as it could damage your laptop, plus that ASUS adapter doesn't say what size barrel plug it has, as you need the exact 1.7x5.5x11 type barrel plug for your AN515-45 laptop DC_IN port.

Also, the loss of power in high end gaming is NOT due to the adapter but its due to the power regulator inside your laptop that might be overheating and shorting out from the laptop using the adapters max power and amps and then the laptop is using the battery.

Your AN515-45 laptops 180W adapter has the following specs below, if you want to use a higher capacity adapter, use the Acer AN515-46 model 230W, 280W or even the 330W with a 1.7x5.5x11 type barrel plug that is exactly the same and will fit your DC_IN port. good luck and hope this helps you out.

Your existing AN515-45 180W Adapter Specs:

    • 90Vac / full load, Maximum 2.5A / 180Vac / full load, Maximum 1.25A

Nitro AN515-46 adapters (this is the next Nitro model up adapters whih have the same barrel plug as your AN515-45 laptop)

    • 230W - 19.5V 90Vac/60Hz, 3.5A (max.) – Acer part #: KP.23001.002 or KP.23003.001 or KP.2300H.004
    • 280W – 19.5V 90Vac/60Hz, 4A (max.) – Acer part #: KP.28001.001 or KP.2800H.001

330W adapters (if you want to go to the max)

    • LITE-ON PA-1331-99AL 330W High power 5.5PHY (1.7x5.5x11) Brick 19.5V/16.9A Black - Acer part #: KP.33003.004
    • Chicony Power A330A012P 330W High power 5.5PHY (1.7x5.5x11) Brick 19.5V/16.92A Black - Acer part #: KP.3300H.001

Thank you so much! I'll make sure to look into those you have listed!

I do wish to ask as a follow up and see what can be done of course.

I have bought a laptop cooler from Asome, specifically the Asome K9.

Is there anything you can recommend to use for increasing the cooling capacity to avoid or help against overheating of my laptop?

I've already replaced the cooling paste and regularly clean out the fans.

Oh and as a follow up, I've looked them up but was curious.

    Are these the correct ones?
