hi I have an acer nitro AN515-54. The moment i try to update my graphic from Microsoft basic display adapter to intel uhd 630, the screen turns off. But my keyboard and other light indicators shows that laptop is on. I have tried everything to resolve this from installing a clean windows to installing older graphic versions. But none resolved my issue.

But today i thought of checking the audio of my laptop while screen turns off after updating the graphic driver to uhd 630. so i played a movie on vlc media player before updating. once the update was done, my screen doesn't turn off now as long as the vlc keeps playing movie.( if i close the vlc or pause the movie, screen turnoff and i am forced to restart my laptop by pressing power button but after that too i need to again play a movie on vlc  )

one more thing i would like to mention that once i close the vlc sometimes i get a BSD of driver verifier dma violation.

These symptoms are from the EC chip that is freezing and/or is faulty, make sure that your laptop has the last bios 1.33 version and all Win-10 last OS Feb 2025 build or if you are running Win-11 have the 24H2 version last OS build: 26100.3323 installed and all windows updates done including any firmware updates for your Nitro laptop that windows has. Btw, the Win-11 is probably a better OS for you to run if these graphics are giving you problems as Win-11 24H2 has more advanced drivers for your AN515-54 graphics of either the Intel UHD630 or the NVidia dedicated gpu. Try all that and see if it solves the black screen whenever the graphics is updated. Good luck and hope this helps you out.
