I was playing a game yesterday and randomly I started having issues with my keyboard. When I press number 2 or 3 it changes my tabs. Number 3 goes a tab forward while 2 goes a tab back. I also noticed control does this as well. Right control goes forward and left control goes back. I have been trying to look up fixes for hours but can't find anything. I have tried to troubleshoot they keyboard and nothing. I don't see any key binds or anything either.

After going into a game and trying to change the key binds to just work around this issue, i noticed that its almost like left control and 2 are bound together and right control and 3 are bound as well.

Also when trying to use my number 2 and 3 keys on the top of my keyboard, they don't work when trying to search online (sometimes they will work if I mash it multiple times). What's weird is if I play a game 2 and 3 work normal, only control is messed up.

I tried to use the powertoys to see if that would help me fix anything and I couldn't find anything to help my situation.

The model number for my computer is an515-43roym

Oh, I also tried to reset the keyboard by changing languages and restarting the laptop, but sadly it did nothing.

Im at a loss for what to do now, I know they keys are not filled with dust or anything either, because they work in games as well as I have removed and cleaned them. If anyone could help this would be greatly appreciated!

Open the laptops back cover and disconnect the battery first so there is no power to the laptop, check the keyboard cables plugs shown below if they are plugged in fully and hasn't come loose, refit the cables and see if the keyboard works properly.

If not then buy a new keyboard as its faulty and with these laptops the keyboard is a sealed unit with the upper case so you need to buy the upper case too. Good luck.

Check plugs C and E shown circled below

Open Settings > Ease of Access (Accessibility in Windows 11) > Keyboard and see if Use Filter Keys is turned on. If so, toggle it off to see if it helps. Similarly, if your keyboard is behaving strangely, make sure Sticky Keys is also turned off in this menu.
