I have a chromebook Spin 713 CP713-2W-5874 that I purchased recertified about 2-3 years ago (so out of warranty). I'm trying to replace the OEM battery model #AP18C8K with a new one of the same model but after market. I've purchased three batteries from diffierent vendors and none of them work on my Chromebook, which simply fails to turn on at all The powerlight is blue when plugged in, but the computer does not turn on (plugged in or not). After each fail, I reinstall my original Acer and it works fine. So my Chromebook will only accept an ACER branded battery, which of course are no longer made? . Anyone have any ideas what's going on? Thanks.

Use the Acer CP713-2W battery part numbers, search the web with the Acer part number and look at Zandparts Acer Battery 3S1P 3-Cell 4343mAh for the CP713-2W as that is an oem battery if you are in Europe or ask Acer in your country if they have the battery highlighted below as those are the oem batteries for your ChromeBook, do NOT use copy cheap batteries as they are old refurbished batteries. Good luck and hope this helps you out.

The AP18C8K just designates the size and shape of the battery, not whether it is correct for your system. Use the Acer part numbers for either the Murata or LGC battery as shown.

But the AP18C8K is the model of the original battery, so how could it be wrong to get that battery?

That is not a model number, it's a size designation. They are made with some 'smarts' inside the battery, which tells the system data about capacity and wear levels. If the battery you purchased gives the wrong info it won't be recognized by the system.

I did not know that that number is a size designation. That explains a lot. Instead of looking for a model number I've actually been only looking at battery size, which gets me no where. Many many thanks. But if AP18C8K is only a battery size, then where is the model number?

Steven posted the part numbers for the Acer batteries earlier in the thread. Search on those part numbers…
