I opened the dialogue to select fingerprint for sign in. It says the option is not available because no suitable device was found.

The leaflet that came with the laptop shows a fingerprint scanner on the top left of the trackpad although I must admit, I can't see any sign that there's one there. Maybe it doesn't have one despite the documentation saying there is. Is that possible?

The only V15 Nitro model that I can see that has the fingerprint sensor is the ANV15-51 model that has it on its touchpad, as the fingerprint reader is an optional extra and Acer states this in its brochures, and if the model that you have doesn’t state a fingerprint sensor, then your ANV15-51 does not come with a fingerprint sensor, as the laptop model needs to have it included from Acer. Good luck and hope this helps you out

I HAVE THE ANV15 - 51 the entire reason I upgraded was the need of this crucial security device. i made sure to check. i ordered the one with the fingerprint advertised. I paid $1300 for this laptop not including software and upgrades/ software I am still using a usb Authentication stick for. instead of the fingerprint reader… can I buy a touchpad replacement with the hardware for fingerprint-built in., or should i return the 30-day old thing and wait for a entire laptop to be sent on 30-day delay again??

If the fingerprint reader on your Acer Nitro V 15 is not working with Windows 11, ensure the fingerprint sensor is enabled in Device Manager, update the driver, or reinstall it. If the issue persists, check if your specific Nitro V 15 model has a fingerprint sensor and if it's supported by Windows Hello.

Here's a more detailed breakdown of troubleshooting steps:-
    1. Check Device Manager:
Open Device Manager (search for it in the Windows search bar).
Expand "Biometric devices" or "Human Interface Devices".
    Locate the fingerprint sensor.
If it's disabled, right-click and select "Enable device". If it's already enabled, proceed to the next step.
    2. Update or Reinstall the Driver:
    Update:
Right-click the fingerprint sensor in Device Manager and select "Update driver". Choose "Search automatically for drivers".
    Reinstall:
If updating doesn't work, right-click the sensor, select "Uninstall device", check the box to remove the driver software, and then click "Uninstall". Restart your computer, and Windows will try to reinstall the driver.
    Download from Acer:
If Windows doesn't install the correct driver, go to the Acer support website and download the fingerprint driver specific to your Nitro V 15 model (e.g., ANV15-51) and Windows 11. Install the driver and restart.

    3. Check for Compatibility:
Model: Ensure your Nitro V 15 model (e.g., ANV15-51) actually has a fingerprint sensor. Some models don't have one.
    Windows Hello:
Confirm that the fingerprint sensor is compatible with Windows Hello for fingerprint sign-in.
    4. Windows Hello Settings:
Go to Settings > Accounts > Sign-in options.
Under "Windows Hello Fingerprint", check for error messages or options that need to be set.
If you see "This option is currently unavailable", try removing and re-adding your fingerprint.
    5. Additional Troubleshooting:
    Hardware and Devices Troubleshooter:
Run the Hardware and Devices troubleshooter (search for "troubleshoot" then select "Find and fix problems").
Disable/Enable: In Device Manager, try disabling and then re-enabling the fingerprint sensor driver.
    BIOS:
Check your BIOS settings (usually accessed by pressing F2 or Del during startup) to see if the fingerprint sensor is enabled there.
If you've tried all these steps and the fingerprint reader is still not working, it may indicate a hardware issue, and you may need to contact Acer support or a qualified technician for further assistance.
