Hi, the Acer Nitro 5 AN517-52 model does have a USB-C port, but it does not support Power Delivery (PD) charging. Use the power adapter that came with the unit instead of a USB-C charger. When this is the power adapter you are using, the battery may have died after 5 years, replace the battery.

I never used the USB-C to try and charge it. I’ve always used the right charger, but I accidentally put a higher voltage adapter in and it “died” I don’t know if it’s just the battery that’s broken or not so?

Don't use the USB 3.1 Type-C Port on the right edge of the laptop as its only got a capacity of 3A at 5V DC which will take ages to charge the battery and you can't use the USB-C 3.1 port when the laptop is on. Use the oem adapter charger of either the 135W or the 180W provided by Acer.

Try and do a hard reset of the laptop as it could be that the laptop needs resetting as my AN515-56 also died like that and a hard reset reset it and I've never has=d a problem like that, as the laptop main power rail can't be shorted with a bigger adapter as this laptop also comes with a 180W and a 230 or even a 330W adapter will work with no damage.

Hard Reset - Remove the twelve (12) screws securing the lower case to the upper case, starting from the upper side, pry to release the upper side latches, continue releasing the remaining latches. Then remove the lower case

Disconnect the main battery cable from the MB and take the main battery out. then disconnect the RTC/BIOS battery and then short the batteries + & - pins at the mainboard plug (as shown below) and then take the ran out.

Leave the laptop like that for at least 1 hour (preferably overnight) and then reconnect everything, if you have 2x ram modules, only connect 1x ram module and alternate the two ram modules and see if its not the ram that is faulty, as the laptop should turn on and boot properly. good luck and hope this helps you out.

Try the CMOS reset method StevenGen mentioned and as I wrote also get a new battery, after 4-5 years it is a good idea to replace a laptop battery:

With a bended paperclip or short thin piece of electric wire, but make sure that the battery is disconnected.
