Asprire 1410/1810-having troubles with the HDD ribbon cable. some fixes to make the SSD & HDD work

Hi! I´ve two netbooks ( AO752 and 1810 ) and I am having troubles with the HDD ribbon cable. I have only one of them, I tried it on both netbooks, with 3 different SSD and HDD (tested on other pc), but it doesn't work. BIOS doesn´t recognize any disk. Of course, even booting a live Linux no disk is detected.

Unfortunately, the cable is very expensive (25-30 euro).

Two questions:

  • Are there some fixes I can try to make the SSD work?
  • Can I buy some kind of compatible ribbon cable?

Thanks for your help!

In the Aspire One 752-1810T-1410 laptops, there is no other way to fix and/or connect these 2.5" HDD fiddly SATA flat cable connections, this problem is also the same on my Nitro AN515-56 model, as its virtually impossible to connect the flat cable to the mainboard fiddly plug, you need a microscope to see exactly where the mobo clip plugs pins are and if they are making full and 100% connection with the clip on plug, as otherwise the HDD does not connect and in my case the laptop didn't even boot or turn on,

Try again as that is where your problem is. and hopefully you didn't damage that mainboard clip or the FFC cable end, as then you need a new FFC cable like below. if you did then you need to have that clip on plug replaced for the 2.5" HDD to connect and work. Good luck and hope this helps you out.
