Using touchpad to trigger backlight on Aspire 3D (A3D15-71GM)

Having a backlit keyboard on a laptop is essential for mental sanity, especially when you turn the lights down low to enjoy glasses-free Spatiallabs 3D viewing. So of course from time to time while watching 3D videos, you want to relight your keyboard for this or that reason. Any cornball knows that the way EVERYONE does this is simply by sweeping the touchpad to re-light up the keyboard. That's the easiest way because you can mess things up by randomly hitting the wrong key on the keyboard while your groping blindly to get the keyboard lit. Of course, though, the Aspire 3D (A3D15-71GM) I just bought forces you to do just that, grop in the dark to find a random key to hit.

In short, is there a way I can program my rig to light up the keyboard just by swiping the touchpad? I know you can set up an "always on" option in the BIOS but I don't want it to be always on, I just want it to relight when I swipe the touchpad.
