Hello everyone, I've owned a Travelmate P414RN-51 for about two years now. It's done me well with my school work, but as apps take more ram, my computer has started to run slower. I ordered a Corsair Vengeance SODIMM DDR4 8 GB RAM stick designed for an 11th-generation Intel processor (the P414RN-51 has a I5 1135G7). I tried some troubleshooting, updating the bios and drivers, and swapping the position of the original RAM stick, but to no avail, my screen stays blank on boot. If there's any bios settings or a better ram stick that works please comment.

Thank you for your time.

  • Is the Corsair Vengeance SODIMM DDR4 8 GB RAM XMP supported? The laptop does not support XMP, so it may cause instability. Most business laptops, including Acer’s TravelMate series, lock RAM speeds to JEDEC standards (e.g., DDR4-3200 at 1.2V) and disable XMP overclocking profiles, rendering high-performance modules incompatible.

How many slots does your laptop have? Some variants solder one RAM module to the motherboard, leaving a single SODIMM slot for upgrades.

If the new RAM specifications do not match the pre-installed RAM, it will not work correctly.

Boot your laptop using the original RAM and post a screenshot of the Memory tab and SPD tab from CPU-Z software so I can confirm compatibility.

Here is what Acer says about your memory:

And here is what Corsair says about the memory you purchased:

So, as suggested, the memory you bought isn't compatible with your laptop. Try a different brand if they don't have any SO-DIMM modules that aren't XMP.
