I'm looking to install an optical drive on my Acer desktop, but I'm unsure what to look for. Can anyone help with suggestions? It did come with a baggie of pieces I'm assuming is for an optic drive.

Your system should have come with a bag of parts, including a bracket and bezel needed for installation.

To install the drive, first open the case of your desktop. Next, insert the optical drive into the appropriate bay, ensuring it fits snugly. Secure the drive with screws or the provided bracket to keep it in place. Finally, connect the power and data cables to the drive, making sure they are firmly attached. Once everything is connected, close the case and power on your desktop to check if the drive is recognized by your operating system.

To add an optical drive to your Acer TC-1780-ES12 desktop, you'll need a standard slimline drive, similar to those used in laptops.

Thank you. Your help is much appreciated. Just out of curiosity would the optic drive from my old HP Pavillon fit the Acer?

I would say YES if it's slim enough to fit the bracket.
