Im thinking of getting a vertical laptop stand to put my Aspire 7 A715-42G-R05G in while having it display on a external monitor at the same time (the lid will be closed during any session). But is it safe to do this? I heard people saying that using my laptop while the lid is closed will damage the screen.

Hi, you cannot operate a 2021 Windows11 laptop like a Desktop with the lid closed, you would need to disable the HALL Effect sensor or tweak the registry (Windows11 will reset that on the next boot). Trying to run the laptop with the lid closed will overheat and may damage the CPU. Older 6th Gen laptops or laptops with passive cooling will be OK to try.

Ensure that the vents on your laptop are not obstructed, as blocked vents can cause overheating and reduce hardware longevity. Make sure the stand is sturdy and can support the weight of your laptop without tipping over. Additionally, some laptops are designed to dissipate heat more effectively when the lid is open, so if your laptop tends to get hot during intensive tasks, using it with the lid closed might cause it to run hotter.
