Acer Aspire ES15 (ES1-531-C45A) won't boot without battery, should It work on AC power alone?

I have an Acer Aspire ES15 (ES1-531-C45A).

The battery indicator was showing a steady orange light when I tried to turn it on, and it did not boot up. I think the battery is probably dead because I left it plugged it too long.

I removed the battery thinking that it might work just with the power adaptor on AC without the battery. The blue power indicator light comes on when I press the power button, but it does not boot up. Should this model work just with the power adaptor an AC without the battery?

    This laptop will run just on the adapter but once you unplug the adapter you will lose all data on the laptop that you worked on or web pages that you used. Its best to operate these laptops on their oem batteries and you should also change the RTC/BIOS battery also as its die to be changed for good operation. Good luck and hope this helps you out.
