With the new laptops you can't do much, except do their usual Win-11 updates and bios updates and freeware gpu updates and of course the ram and M.2 SSD capacity increase and better speed drives, as usually the oem specs are minimal.

I can only speak with what I've got and I'm using which is the Predator Helios Neo model PHN16-71-50JG that came oem from Acer with the specs of an i5-13500HX cpu / RTX4050 gpu / 16GB 2x 8GB DDR5-4800MT/s CL40 type ram / 512GB HK Hynix NVMe Gen 4 x4 M.2 SSD.

What I've done is following upgrades.

    1. Upgraded the SSD 1 boot slot to a 1TB Samsung 990 Pro NVMe + Heatsink Gen 4 x4 M,2 SSD.
    2. Upgraded the SSD 2 slave slot to a WD 4TB SN850X NVMe with Heatsink Gen 4 x4 M.2 SSD.
    3. Upgraded the ram to 64GG @ 2x 32GB DDR5-4800MT/s CL40 Crucial ram.

That is all that you can do as these laptops can't be undervolted and/or overvolted or their ram be overclocked as the bios does not allow any mods, so that is all that you can do on Acer laptops, I don't know about other brands as this the best laptop that I've used so far.

But I did build a new desktop for my older son just recently which he wanted a white gaming desktop to fit into his house's decor and its components are as follows; Corsair 680X white case / CORSAIR RM1000x PSU / Asus ROG STRIX B850-A GAMING WIFI mobo / ZOTAC GAMING RTX 4080 SUPER White Edition, 16GB gpu / Ryzen 9 9950X cpu / Thermaltake TH280 V2 Ultra AIO cpu cooler Snow White / 4x 32GB White RGB Corsair Vengeance DDR5-6400 • CL=36 • Non-ECC • UDIMM / White MSI PRO MP341CQW 34" UltraWide monitor / 1x 1TB Samsung 990 Pro & 1x 4TB Samsung 990 Pro M.2 Gen 4 x4 SSD / White Corsair K70 RGB MK.2 SE keyboard / Logitech G502X Wired Gaming Mouse (White).

The above spec desktop looks absolutely magnificent in white and woks unbelievably speedy within gaming and editing but my son uses it for gaming mainly so that is why he spend t the money
