I’m having an issue with my Nitro 5 AN515-58 laptop. My HDD is detected in the BIOS but does not appear in Windows. I’ve tried several troubleshooting steps, including:

  1. Restarting the system.
  2. Unplugging and reconnecting the SATA cable.
  3. Updating the drivers via Device Manager.
  4. Rolling back any recent updates.

Despite all these efforts, the HDD still doesn’t show up in Windows. Has anyone experienced this issue before or know of any potential solutions I can try? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks in advance!

    Some things to check:
Open Disk Management, look for your SSD in the list of drives. If it appears as unallocated space, you need to initialize and format it. Right-click on the unallocated space, select "New Simple Volume," and follow the prompts to assign a drive letter and format the drive.

If the SSD is not initialized, it won't appear in Windows. In Disk Management, right-click on the SSD, and select "Initialize Disk." Choose the partition style (GPT) and follow the prompts.

Change SATA Mode: Enter the BIOS and press Ctrl+S, check the SATA mode settings. Ensure that it is set to AHCI (Advanced Host Controller Interface) rather than RST-Optane-RAID. Save the changes and restart your computer.

Most reasons would lead to this error. If it's detected in the BIOS but not in the OS, it's likely that the driver being used by the OS is not compatible with the drive. It's also possible that one drive is compatible with AHCI and the other with legacy IDE.
