Hi, everyone,

I am using an Acer Aspire 7 [A715-75G] running Windows 11.

Since yesterday, Ethernet connection has not been appearing and consequently not working on my PC though wifi connection still working fine.

I have attached images to illustrate the issue:

  1. In the first image, the CMD (ipconfig) output does not show an Ethernet IP config.
  2. In the Windows Settings > Network & Internet section, Ethernet setting is not visible.
  3. In the Control Panel > View Network Connections, the Ethernet connection is missing.
  4. In the Device Manager, the Ethernet network adapter is not listed under Network Adapters by default. However, when I enable "Show hidden devices," I can see 'Realtek PCIe GBE Family Controller' with error code 45 when clicked.

What I have tried so far:

  1. Restarted the PC multiple times No luck
  2. Updated the driver (using automatically via Device Manager)No luck
  3. Reset the network settings from windows setting (Settings > Network & Internet > Advanced network settings > Network reset) → No luck
  4. Reset the network and flushed DNS via CMD lineNo luck
  5. Manually updated the driver (Device Manager > Right-click ‘Realtek PCIe GBE Family Controller’ > Update driver > Browse my computer for drivers > Let me pick from a list > Next) → No luck
  6. Uninstalled the driver from Device Manager, expecting it to reappear after a system restart or hardware scan → Did not reappear and gone permanently.
  7. Downloaded and installed the LAN driver from the Acer website, then manually integrated it via Device Manager → Still no success
  8. Tried adding the driver manually (Device Manager > Action > Add Legacy Hardware) → No luck.
  9. Formatted my laptop yesterday. After formatting, the Ethernet adapter was detected earlier and worked fine, but today, it has disappeared again.

Additional Observations:

  1. Before formatting, the LAN adapter appeared once for about 10–15 minutes but disappeared again but i a'm not sure why though?
  2. The issue keeps repeating despite driver reinstalls and network resets.

Has anyone experienced a similar issue? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

    @Axxo

The problem did indeed resolve itself, but not due to reconnecting any hardware or making manual changes. 4-5 system cyclic restart solved the issue next day. I don't know how though.

Regarding the error code-45 resolution method you mentioned(though it may be work in most scenario), it was not in my case as there was no hardware intervention and connection being lose of any kind. In my case network adapter was hidden in the Device Manager, making it inaccessible in the network settings. This occurred despite the Wi-Fi adapter on my PC remaining intact.
