Acer Aspire A515-57 USB-C charging port stopped working

Hi, my Acer Aspire A515-57 USB-C charging port stopped working recently, I needed to use it as the normal port was troublesome sometimes. I thought it was my charger, but I got new one and same effect, asked my friend if they can check if their laptop (same model) can charge through usb-c port and also it is not charging. My guess is that port was disabled by some update maybe? is there a way to change configuration for USB-C port .

My USB-C charger is 65 W and was working before on both mine and my friend laptop.

Hi, universal GaN type multiport chargers don't work well with laptops and if the battery is depleted these types of USB-C chargers may fail to charge. Get a 100-W laptop USB-C charger with a fixed 5 Amp, thick, USB-C cord like this one (available at Amazon): https://store.acer.com/en-us/100w-adapter-kit-with-power-cord

Thank you for your response , my only concern is that I was using this charger for over a year and had no issues and recently it just stopped so I blame configuration . I can also see when its booting up laptop recognise the charger and its charging for a while till windows 11 is loaded and then stops .

Hi, you can check similar posts on this forum, only special 100-W laptop USB-C chargers with fixed 5 Amp USB-C cords will work with the larger laptops or get the DC charging port repaired at Acer Services in your country and use the barrel plug power adapter that came with your unit 😉
