Hello

I have a acer predator po3-640 with a intel i7-12700f

I recently wanted to update my cpu cooler and have purchased an arctic freezer 7 x as gave clearance with case and fits on motherboard etc.

On going to fit it and after removing original cooler and going to fit new one the mounting bracket supplied has plastic clips which i assume push through motherboard.

The problem is my cooler mounting was bolted and the new bracket uses plastic clips

Can anyone give any advice on whether i should find some bolts or buy another cooler.

I have seen on one forum that the noctua cooler is a straight fit

Many thanks

Use the Arctic 7x cpu cooler plastic clips as they are the best for this cpu cooler, as I'm sure that Acrctic knows what they are doing, as they have been making cpu coolers and thermals for desktops for quite a while. Their plastic clips are as good as bolting the bracket onto the mobo, but its your choice if you can find the appropriate bolts then do that.

The Arctic freezer 7x fitting instructions are very clear, you take the old PO3-640 cpu cooler out and then you position the Arctic freezer 7x Intel Retention Ring into the same 4x mounting holes first (see the direction instructions also for the cpu cooler position) then you push the 4x plastic Retentions pins that are provided with the Arctic freezer 7x cpu cooler and the cpu mounting is secured to the mobo, then you clip the Arctic 7x cpu cooler onto that bracket and then connect the fan plug into the PO3-640 CPU_FAN at #3 plug shown below and then your done. Its a very simple fitting system and allot simpler than the Noctua NH-U9S cpu cooler, as the Arctic freezer 7x is virtually a plug and play.

POI3-640 mobo CPU_FAN plug @ #3 that you should connect the Arctic 7x cpu cooler plug to

Yes, you have to remove the motherboard and pry off the existing cooler mount from the back. That is one of the reasons we suggest the Noctua instead, you can just use slightly different screws and fit the Noctua with the stock backplate. Be careful when prying off the plate from the back of the motherboard, take your time and let it release slowly so you don't do any damage. It's a pain, but doable.
