Unusual Scratching Noise and Beeping on Laptop Predator PHN16-71

Good morning,

I recently encountered an issue with my Predator laptop. Occasionally, when I power it on, it makes a strange scratching-like noise, followed by three or four beeps before booting up and functioning normally.

The last time this happened was about three to four days ago, but the laptop has been working fine since then, no more scratching or beeps since then. I would like to understand what might have caused this issue and if there is any preventive action I should take.

Thank you in advance for your support.

Best regards,

According to the BIOS manufacturer, four beeps may indicate a memory problem or a problem with the system itself.
Power outages should not affect a laptop since it is powered by battery.
It may not happen again and the system will recover.

  • Hi @Quiron14 It may be that at that time it did not detect a specific device, such as the memory, do you remember how many beeps there were and if they were unique in intensity or if they alternated short and long beeps?
It could also be caused by the power supply, was it connected at that time?

Hello @Alejandro_AC, I am 90% sure that there were four beeps, all with the same intensity. The laptop was plugged in every time the issue occurred.

This may be unrelated, but since you mentioned the power supply, I recently experienced an electrical issue at home—one of the circuits was causing power outages. During the repair, I think that my laptop remained plugged in, and I had to turn my house energy on and off multiple times while trying to locate the problem.
