Acer Aspire X desktop-Lost Ethernet Connection; Can I utilize a USB Docking Station to Connect?

Hello,

Need a recommendation, please. I have an Acer Aspire X desktop that was manufactured in 2014 (10 yrs old). Overall it appears to still be working except it no longer connects to the internet. This was as a result of a summer storm. The device that supplied the internet (from the service provider) had to be replaced. Once the new internet device was connected via the Ethernet cord to the tower, it resulted in no internet connection. Cannot even connect wirelessly.

Would getting a USB Docking station with Ethernet access be a temporary solution? Desktop needs Windows updates and other software updates but USB tethering is not working quick enough.

Thanks in advance.

Looks like the network card is build in , so add a pci express card or use an usb adapter per AI information.

The Acer Aspire X AXC-115-UR20 comes with a built-in wired network adapter, but some users have reported issues with it1. Here are some key points about the wired adapter for this model:

    1. The desktop has a 10/100/1000Mbps LAN port for wired internet connectivity8.
    2. Some users have experienced connectivity problems, particularly after upgrading to Windows 101.
    3. A common workaround for connection issues involves uninstalling and reinstalling the network adapter driver through Device Manager1.
    4. Updating the BIOS and network adapter drivers may help resolve some connectivity problems1.

If persistent issues occur with the built-in wired adapter, users have two main options:

    1. Install a PCI Express network card in one of the open slots. This requires disabling the integrated LAN in the BIOS1.
    2. Use a USB-to-Ethernet adapter as an alternative solution2.

These options can provide a more stable wired connection if the built-in adapter continues to cause problems.

    Please post a model number

Have you tested the new router/modem with another working device or your cellphone ?

Has your computer been tested on a working system. Is there an internal wi/fi modem card in your computer that can be replaced.

I'm not sure about a USB Dockering station ?

Hello, the new router is also wireless. All other devices can connect wirelessly including mobile. The modem card for the desktop most likely will have to be replaced. It was only cable of giving wired Internet access via the Ethernet cord. No wireless access to the desktop. I just wanted a temporary fix to update the system's software. The model of the desktop is
