Hello to anyone. I am totally new to this kind of thing and not sure what to do, I have a problem with my 3-month-old tablet. The keyboard doesn't pop up when I try to search anything, it it something I have done (most probably) or a malfunction? The only Acer help I can find is for USA and Canada and they refuse to help. I would be most grateful for any suggestions please>

Here are some specific steps you can try to get the onscreen keyboard working on your Acer M10-11 tablet:

    1. Restart Your Tablet: Sometimes, a simple restart can resolve temporary issues. Turn off your tablet and then turn it back on.
    2. Clear Keyboard App Cache and Data:
      • Go to Settings > Apps & Notifications > See All Apps.
      • Find your keyboard app (e.g., Gboard).
      • Tap on Storage and then Clear Cache and Clear Data1.
    3. Check Keyboard Settings:
      • Go to Settings > System > Languages & Input > Virtual Keyboard.
      • Ensure your preferred keyboard is enabled.
    4. Update or Reinstall Keyboard App:
      • Go to the Google Play Store and check if there are any updates available for your keyboard app.
      • If updating doesn't help, try uninstalling and then reinstalling the keyboard app.
    5. Check for System Updates: Ensure your tablet's operating system is up to date. Go to Settings > System > Software Update.
    6. Reset App Preferences:
      • Go to Settings > Apps & Notifications > See All Apps.
      • Tap the three dots in the top right corner and select Reset App Preferences1.
    7. Try a Different Keyboard App: If the default keyboard isn't working, you can try installing a different one from the Google Play Store, like SwiftKey or Gboard.

I hope this helps! If this was useful, please hit 'Yes' or 'Like'! Thanks! 😊

Restoring your Android tablet to factory settings can help resolve persistent issues that other troubleshooting methods have not resolved. Back up your data. Ensure your tablet is sufficiently charged (at least 50%) or connected to a power source before initiating the reset.

Soft Reset (Power Reset) : The Acer M10-11 tablets are equipped with a power reset pinhole, which provides a convenient way to restart the tablet without losing any data. Locate a small paperclip and unbend it so you can use the straight end. Gently insert the paperclip into the reset hole labeled with the number 1 in the illustration below and use it to gently press the reset button. Wait for your tablet to restart and power on. You should now be able to use the device normally again.

Factory Reset (From Settings) : If you want to erase all data and restore your tablet to its original factory settings:
Back Up Your Data: Ensure you back up any important files, as a factory reset will delete all data on the device.
Open Settings: Go to the Settings app on your home screen or app drawer.
Navigate to System: Scroll down and tap System.
Select Reset Options: Tap Reset options.
Erase All Data: Select Erase all data (Factory Reset).
Confirm: Follow the on-screen instructions to confirm the reset

Factory Reset (Using Recovery Mode) : If you can't access the settings menu, you can perform a factory reset using recovery mode:
Power Off the Tablet: Turn off your tablet.
Enter Recovery Mode: Press and hold the Power and Volume Down buttons simultaneously until the recovery mode screen appears. Note: Some models use the Power + Volume Up key combination.
Navigate to Wipe Data/Factory Reset: Use the volume buttons to navigate and the power button to select Wipe data/factory reset.
Confirm: Confirm the reset and wait for the process to complete

After the reset, your tablet will restart and display the initial setup screen. Follow the on-screen instructions to set up your tablet as if it were new.

Try swiping down from the top of the screen to open the notification panel and tap the settings icon to access the Settings app. Once there, navigate to "Languages & input" under the System section and look for keyboard settings to ensure the on-screen keyboard is enabled. If you're unable to type into the search bar, consider using voice commands to open the Settings app and find the keyboard settings. You can usually activate voice commands. As a last resort, you might need to reset your tablet to its factory settings, but ensure you back up any important files, as a factory reset will delete all data on the device. so use it with caution
