hi folks,

i just bought an Acer Nitro V16 AN16-41 notebook and have a few questions about what I should do first after setting it up. Should I uninstall bloatware and antivirus software? Should I update the NVIDIA drivers right away? I also heard that Acer Care Center limits battery charging to 80%, which could affect battery lifespan. Should I uninstall ? Should i turn off performance mode ? Sorry, I’m a complete newbie. Do you have any advice or maybe a guide on the essential first steps for Acer Nitro V16 AN16-41?

Hi, you first want to register the laptop with Acer Support using Acer Registration app, just type that in Search. After completion open Device Manager and check in firmware what your Acer BIOS version is, if older than 1.25 dated 2024/10/25 you can download the latest version by clicking on this link: https://global-download.acer.com/GDFiles/BIOS/BIOS/BIOS_Acer_1.25_A_A.zip?acerid=638654337003384712&Step1=&Step2=&Step3=NITRO%20AN16-41&OS=ALL&LC=en&BC=ACER&SC=PA_6

After that Check for Updates in Windows and enable Optional Updates in Advanced. Don't "update" any drivers as Windows will offer you updates when these become available before they appear on Acer Support. Do not download graphics drivers from third party sites.

Uninstalling Acer Care Center is a good idea as the program is buggy and you should not try to limit battery charging to 80% but keep the power adapter plugged in 24/7 and the battery charged to 100%. However, ACC will be reinstalled when you boot again so there is no point trying to uninstall any of the Acer programs, just don't use it and don't Calibrate or Optimize the battery as this was done by Acer in the factory and you only need to do that once with a new battery. Uninstalling 3rd-party browsers-virus checkers and trial versions is a good idea but you need to download the uninstallers from these websites to do the process properly otherwise remnants in the registry will keep trying to reinstall these programs and clutter up your network with CLOUD telemetry. Open Task Manager-Processes ad if you see more than 80 apps running at the background uninstall programs you don't use including disabling apps in Startup (Task Manager).
