Hello.

I have Acer Aspire 3 A315-44P-R149 laptop. It has two RAM extendable slots. There are two good options for sale at my location: Kingston KVR32S22S8/16 and Kingston KVR32S22D8/16.

I now that one type is a single-rank and second type is a dual-rank. My questions are:

  1. Are these two types of memory supported? Dual-rank variant would be the preferable option for me. Unfortunately I can't test the memory before purchase and delivery.
  2. Can I install 32 GB RAM in one slot? Kingston KVR32S22D8/32 for example. I know that my laptop supports only 2x16 by tech specs. But maybe it's just conditional limitation and I can make 2x32.

Thank you!

Your Acer Aspire 3 A315-44P-R149 supports DDR4 3200MHz SO-DIMM memory modules, making both the dual-rank compatible. Dual-rank memory can offer better performance, so it's a good choice. Your laptop supports a maximum of 32GB of RAM across two slots (2x16GB), but a single 32GB module is not supported.

Hi, this model supports up to 16GB per slot to a maximum RAM of 32GB-DDR4 PC4-25600 3200MHz 260-pin SODIMM. To run at the maximum clock speed in Dual Channel mode you need to have two identical RAM modules installed, the system will default to the lowest speed, ranking is not crucial but Timing (CL) and Speed are.
