So one day my laptop was working fine one day, took it downstairs, turned it on for a moment, shut it off when I had to get up for a moment, came back to it and it was just completely dead. No charging lights or power lights showed up and wouldn't turn on. I tried doing that method of unplugging it, holding the power button and plugging it back in but that didn't work. Waited a bit to see if it just needed a break but that didn't work either. Broke down and decided to try and open up the laptop myself and doing something I saw online about fully draining the laptop or something along those lines but that didn't work either. My family isn't in a position to repair it and I have a lot of important stuff and memories on there so any help would be very appreciated.

The laptop may have been updating as a lot of Windows updates are released by Microsoft since January 14. If update(s) failed because of a power interruption BIOS was corrupted and, in that case, the EEPROM needs to be reprogrammed by Acer Services in your country, this is not a costly procedure ($40 in the Philippines).

Do a Hard Reset first and see if that wakes the laptop up, but by the signs that you have described its more like a mosfet or capacitor or resistor that has shorted in the main power rail and has killed the power to your laptop.

To do a hard reset and to reset the EC and Chipset chips that could have locked and are restricting your laptop from booting and are frozen, first undo the back cover of the laptop and take that off, take the main battery out and then disconnect the RTC/BIOS battery (shown below) then short its +&- pin at the mainboard plug to reset CMOS, take all the ram out, leave the laptop like that for 30min to let the laptop reset, then reconnect everything, but if you have 2x ram modules only connect one at the time first and alternate the ram two modules to see if its not the ram that is faulty, if this hard reset doesn't work then take your laptop to a technician near you and get them to check the main power rail of your AN515-55 model laptop so that they can fix this fault. Good luck and hope this helps you out further.

Below is the EC chip that needs resetting and the RTC.BIOS battery plug that you have to shorts its plug +&- pins.
