Acer nitro AN515-54 and having a problem with I2C hid device driver and my touchpad not working.

I have been facing an ongoing issue for the past five months with my Acer laptop. At times, the touchpad works intermittently, and the I2C HID driver in Device Manager shows no warning. Eventually, the touchpad stops working, and a yellow warning sign appears, indicating an issue. Despite trying several troubleshooting methods, including giving remote access to Microsoft support, they were unable to resolve the problem and suggested to contact Acer support. Unfortunately, I came to know that Acer does not offer free support services, which has been very disappointing. This experience has led me to reconsider purchasing another Acer laptop in the future. I would greatly appreciate any assistance or advice to resolve this issue.

Hi, intermittent touchpad failures indicate a hardware issue like a bad contact of the cable/connector, this is not an expensive repair job. You could check in BIOS if the Touchpad is set to 12C HID and not PS/2 or Basic, save changes on exit with F10 and boot to Windows. Open Device Manager-Human Interface Devices and uninstall the 12C HID device and in Mice and other pointing devices uninstall all Synaptics and Elantech drivers you may have installed. Check if you see Other Devices or Unknown Devices also in the Hidden Devices (View, Menu bar) and uninstall all those drivers as these are not for your system). Just reboot and don't install anything. If still issues go online and paste this command in the Command Prompt opened as Administrator: Dism.exe /online /cleanup-image /restorehealth and press Enter. After successful completion paste this in the Command Prompt: SFC /scannow and press Enter. This should complete with the message "….did not find any integrity violations" repeat the command till you see that.

There doesn't seem to be an option in the BIOS for changing touchpad behavior:

Although there might be something extra shown if you do a CTRL-S on that screen… There were two different touchpads used in these models though, which do you have and which driver version is installed?
